If you walk around your home look for areas where roof lines intersect. Many times an intersection point offers rats, squirrels and raccoons the perfect opportunity to enter your attic. We have a lot of experience finding these entry points, sealing them, then trapping, exterminating and removing the rats (squirrels and raccoons we relocate), then decontaminate your entire attic. The decontamination process helps prevent animals from re entering your home as well as disinfect.

Squirrels – AKA Rats with fuzzy tails! Squirrels can do just as much damage to your home as a family of rats. You don’t want to encourage them to hang around your home by supplying them with an ever lasting supply of food. Many of the palm trees used for landscaping provide sweet seeds for the squirrels to eat. If there is a steady supply of food the squirrels will stay and eventually attempt to find shelter to make a nest and have babies. Your home may be the shelter they are looking for. If you have tree branches less than 10 away from your home then can easily jump on your roof and then find a way into your attic.

Once they are in and make themselves at home they are hard to get them out. Animals in the Attic’s trained professionals know how to find and trap the squirrels. Once trapped they are released in a designated area far from your home. The entry points the squirrels used to enter the house are then sealed up permanently and the entire attic is disinfected with a virucide to kill a bacteria left behind by the squirrel’s urine and feces.

There are several different animals that could take over your attic and call it home. There are a couple ways to tell what critter is living in your attic. The best way is obviously seeing them enter or leave your attic however due to the nature of wildlife that probably wont happen. They are typically cunning, smart and elusive creatures that take refuge in attics across the globe. Therefore seeing them is rare. The next best thing would be to go into the attic and examine the feces to determine what kind of animal is up there. Lastly, and probably most likely you will be listening to what time of day you hear the noises and narrowing it down from there. Let’s discuss the most common types of animals to enter attics and when you will hear them. Squirrels are diurnal so if you hear noises during the day especially early morning or dusk you more than likely have squirrels residing in your attic.  Raccoons are nocturnal and most of the noise you will hear will be at night as they exit and enter the attic in the nightly rounds for food.  They are big animals so you will hear loud stomping and scampering. Also, raccoon babies are very vocal so if you hear any chirping, squeeking or the like there are probably babies up there. Rats are also nocturnal you will here them scratching and scampering around during the night.
